Chevrolet Airbag Module Reset Service
If the air bag light is on in your Chevrolet after a crash, airbag
deployment, battery event, or electrical fault, the problem is often crash data that has
been stored inside the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) control unit. Once this data is
recorded, the module may be “locked” and normal scan tools cannot clear it. Our
Chevrolet airbag module reset service clears this crash data at the
memory level so you can safely reuse your original module without buying a new one.
This is a reset & return service. You mail us your original Chevrolet
airbag control module (sometimes called SDM, SIR, or RCM). We perform a professional
SRS module reset, erase crash codes, and send the same unit back ready
for plug-and-play installation in the same vehicle. No dealer programming is
usually required because your VIN and configuration stay matched to the car or truck.
When You Need a Chevrolet Airbag Module Reset
This service is ideal if you are dealing with any of the following:
- The airbag light stays on after a collision repair or minor accident
- Scan tools show “crash data stored” or “event data recorded”
- The dealer recommends replacing the air bag module because it is “locked”
- You searched for “how to reset air bag module” or
“SRS module reset near me” and want a mail-in option
- You installed used airbags or seatbelts but the light still will not clear
As long as your Chevrolet airbag control module is not physically burned, flooded, or
heavily corroded, a reset is usually possible. All airbags, pretensioners, and related SRS
components must be repaired or replaced separately before reinstalling the reset module.

Chevrolet Airbag Module Part Numbers We See Often
We work with a wide range of GM and ACDelco SDM units including, but not limited to:
- 1358-xxxx and 1359-xxxx series modules
- 1523-xxxx, 2093-xxxx and 2589-xxxx families
- 0939-xxxx legacy SIR / SDM units
- Modules labeled “SDM,” “Sensing & Diagnostic Module,” “Airbag Control Module,”
“Airbag ECU,” or “SIR / SRS Control Unit”
As long as your module is a Chevrolet airbag / SRS control unit and is not physically
destroyed by fire, flood or severe impact, we can usually perform an
airbag module repair (reset) and return it to service.
Airbag Codes We Clear
During the air bag module reset process we erase stored crash data and
internal fault codes commonly associated with locked Chevrolet modules, such as:
-
B107E – airbag module related
-
B207F – SRS unit fault
-
B1015 – faulty module memory
-
B1139 – internal SRS error
-
B1193 – airbag module related
-
B1206 – RCM / airbag module fault
-
B1342 – SRS module failure
-
B1620, B1649, B1650 – crash detected / crash data stored
-
DF194 “After Accident” and similar event-recorded messages
After reset, the module memory is returned to a “factory clear” state. Any warning that
remains after installation will typically point to an external component (sensor, seatbelt,
clockspring, connector, etc.), not the module itself.
How the Mail-In Reset Process Works
-
Place your order on this page.
-
Remove the SRS module from your Chevrolet. It is usually mounted on
the center tunnel, under the console, or beneath the front seats. Always disconnect
the battery and wait several minutes before working on SRS components.
-
Pack the module securely in a padded box, protecting the case and
connectors.
-
Ship it to Module Repair Lab using a trackable method.
-
We perform the SRS module reset, clear crash data and locked codes,
and verify communication.
-
We ship it back within approximately 2–3 business days
from the time it arrives at our shop.
-
Reinstall the module and scan the vehicle to confirm the airbag light
stays off, assuming all SRS components are in proper working order.
Include a copy of your order confirmation, your contact information, and the return
shipping address inside the box. We recommend insured and trackable shipping to protect
your module in transit.
Turnaround Time & 1-Year Warranty
Most Chevrolet airbag modules are processed within 2–3 business days after
they arrive at our facility. This service includes a 1-year limited warranty
on the reset procedure. If crash data or internal module memory faults reappear due to the
module itself within that period, contact us so we can evaluate the unit.
The warranty does not cover physical damage, corrosion, water intrusion, new accidents,
or external SRS faults caused by wiring, sensors, airbags, or seatbelts.
